Tony began his Banking career with the ANZ in the Melbourne suburb of Glenhuntly in 1974. Transfers took him to several City locations before leaving Australia in 1977 for a two years posting to the Solomon Islands. In 1979 he returned to Nambour, Queensland as the personnel officer for the Sunshine Coast Area. During the next 13 years he worked at several Sunshine Coast locations before his first management appointment, opening the new branch at Curriumndi in 1992.

In 1994 he took his family to Childers where he gained rural lending experience as the branch manager in a country town. In January 1998 he was appointed the Area and Branch manager at Caboolture. Tony was responsible for the staffing, lending and business development of Caboolture, Morayfield, Burpengary and Bribie Island branches. Tony left ANZ in January 2002 accepting a partnership with CrediFlex Mortgage lending.
